Culture shock at Krispy Kreme

Today, I had the biggest culture shock since I arrived in Japan. At around 12:30, I met my friends at Yurakucho for lunch, and walked by Krispy Kreme. Suddenly, I saw a long line of people and others including securities and employees of Krispy Kreme telling how to form a line. I could not believe what the sign was saying for a moment because it just seems ridiculous to wait for an hour and 40 minutes for sugary donuts. To be honest, I would not even wait 30 minutes for them, but maybe 30 minutes for malasadas if I am really craving it. what a patience Japanese people have...can you believe it??? but then again, you get one free donut while waiting.

People who are close to get them... 30 more minutes!!!

People who are not even close to get them....1 hour and 40 minutes???!!!

Haha, what a great experience! So did you actually stand in the line and wait for your turn to purchase the legendary sugary donuts?

Just to let you know, people also stood in the line, probably not any shorter than this line in Tokyo, at Walmart in order to buy Krispy Kreme at our fundraiser for BEST..... NOT! I wish it was that good! In fact, we were at Walmart for about 3 hours just to sell about 100 boxes! Not that I'm complaining, but it was one of the longest Friday afternoon ever! I was there with Sai, Kristi, Casi and Sophia.

Anyway, great blog! Have a great time there, cuz we're all having it here back in Hawaii!

Cheers

hey long~!!! long time no see~
well, I did not stand in the line for the legendary donuts.
I think I am just going to wait until I go back to Hawaii and get them from BEST. haha
That's great, you guys sold lots of donuts. You probably would have earned all the budget for the club if you sold them in Japan.
I hear the beach house is coming soon. I wish I was there~!!!

This reminds me of the lines for Malasadas at the Punahou Carnival. I think those lines are almost 1 hour plus.
But if you ever get the chance to go to the Punahou Carnival, you should definitely try those malasadas; they are the definitely worth the wait.
Anyways, I hope you're classes are going ok. ttyl.

Wow, that is indeed a long line.

I have seen shorter lines for game releases.

Funny how long people will wait for things.

Hope you didn't end up waiting in that line either.

Hahah that's so crazy! I love Krispy Kremes but there's 200 calories for one normal sugar donut >_< Our KK fundraiser for BEST went pretty good I think. We ordered 300 boxes and by the end of the day we only had a few boxes unsold.. but sai made bread pudding with them! ^_^

Keep us updated!

Brent-> I remember malasadas at the Punahou Carnival! haha.
I think I got them less than an hour because I was there early!!

Derek-> It is funny how people wait so long for what they want. I guess I would wait long for something different... not for sugary donuts... I will just get them at seven eleven. lol

Shawnie-> I would definitely get BEST's Krispy Kreme!!!
