My host family!!!

Today, I would like to tell a little bit about my host family.

Unlike most of other exchange stududents who live in a dorm with themselves only, I am staying with a host family. When I first thought about coming to Japan, I was going to stay in a dorm just like everyone else. Luckily, my family's acquaintance wanted to have me stay in their house during my study in Japan.
My host family runs a Japanese restaurant. The host father is a cook, and the host mother helps out. They have two nice sons, who take me around places where younger people hang out, and they also want to improve their English. I stop by the restaurant whenever I am on the way to school and back home. They cook different Japanese food every meal for me, and it is awesome. I have to say that I am blessed because I do not have to worry about what to eat like other exchange students.
So far, it has been great to stay with a host family. Other students here complain that they do not have a chance to practice their Japanese as much, but I speak Japanese all the time at home and at the restaurant. Also, I get a good hot meal. Yeah!!!

I would like to recommend to stay with a host family to everyone who is planning to study abroad. I truly think it is the best way to experience a country.

That is so awesome that your host family owns a yakiniku resturant. Do you get to eat yakiniku everyday? Does that almost mean that you also get to drink beer everyday?
You should also try take the time to learn to cook. I would have love to learn to cook Japanese food.

See ya later.

Hey Danny! That sounds like the best setup ever, living with a cook is never a bad thing :) And I agree that staying with a host family while studying abroad is the best thing to do. I did the same in Spain and it made the experience so amazing (and my senora was a great cook as well!)

I agree that staying with a host family is the way to go when studying abroad! I lived with a host family for a year when I was an exchange student in the U.S. and it was the best experience ever...of course, the meals they cooked didn't taste very good, so I'm sure that your host dad does a much better job!! :-)
Enjoy all the Japanese food!
Aloha,
Klaudia

Brent-> actually, they own a Japanese restaurant. We just had a yakiniku party at the restaurant. haha. anyways, it is great to be with a host family who owns a restaurant! I do not get free beer everyday, but instead I drink free sochu mixes which taste better!

Linh-> I am LUCKY!!! haha I really enjoy eating Japanese food. Hopefully, I will lose some weight before I go back!

Kayla-> I have to admit that it is a very good setup here!!! I guess if you meet a host family that you are comfortable with, it is the best thing. If not, it could be pretty bad... I heard...

Klaudia-> I guess it could be the best experience if you meet the right one. I am so glad to be with the right one. But sometimes, I wish I was in a dorm because you are always with friends. :)
