I wish all the best for everyone!!!
After moving into a dorm, I feel mentally and physically relaxed, and it has been great so far.
The month of eventful December seemed endless with "忘年会(bounenkai)”, a year-end party. The word literally means a party to forget that year. Luckily, I was able to survive through all the parties in December without forgetting much, and successfully make it to 2008. I ended up forming a social event every Thursday as well.
But I definitely missed my family and friends in Hawaii. Instead, I visited Korea and spent time with my family there. It was a great way to end a year.
our international social event on every Thursday night! (usually in Shibuya)
Christmas dinner in one of the dorms.
People cooked food from their own country.
sorry... could not cook locomoco or kalua pig.
My father and I climbed up a mountain behind our house in Korea to see the sunrise on January 1st. a snowy road to the mountaintop.

Hey Danny! Sounds like you had a good New Year! I can feel you as far as missing your family. When I don't see mine for a while I begin to feel that way too. I got to go home, however, and visit with my family and dogs. It was great! Then I had to be back in Honolulu for swimming on December 30 so that I could train. So I didn't get to see them too long. Welp, hope all is going well! Happy New Year!
man, sorry about your host family. that really sucks that you had to quit it, I really thought you'd have a good time and get an even better experience. but on the bright side, now you have something to compare it to. living in the dorms looks like a completely new set of fun things to do, so I hope this goes better.
so what about these parties huh? I'm soooo jealous that you got to go to the sumo wrestler place, lucky! hope everything's going well, see you later!

I did have such a good New Year!!!
I bet it was awesome in Hawaii, too. This month has been crazy. I think Japanese college students only study only 2 weeks before their exams, and professors expect the same. isn't it so strange?

yes, it was too bad that I had to quit it, but now I am in a dorm and I enjoy it very much. It can't be better than this!!! I can definitely compare this to living with a host family. I may be speaking less Japanese and getting less Japanese home meal, but I am building more friendship and network.
